This week, Year 5 proudly launched Anti-Bullying Week with a splash of colour by wearing odd socks. This simple act was a powerful reminder of the importance of celebrating individuality and respecting differences.

Throughout the week, pupils explored what bullying really means and discussed a variety of real-life scenarios. They learned new vocabulary, including bystander, victim, and upstander, and reflected on how each person has the courage and responsibility to stand up against bullying. Through videos and group discussions, the children considered how their actions can make a positive difference.

The class also examined why some individuals may engage in bullying behaviour, recognising that bullies often need support as much as their victims. Emphasis was placed on the role of an upstander—someone who speaks out and informs a trusted adult when they witness bullying—helping to ensure that everyone involved receives the care they need. Together, Year 5 set a clear goal: to create a safe, supportive environment for all.

To conclude the week, pupils designed vibrant posters to spread the message of kindness and remind everyone to stand up against bullying. Their creativity and commitment shone through, making Anti-Bullying Week both meaningful and memorable.
