Reception have had a vibrant and engaging week learning all about Diwali, the festival of lights. As part of their understanding of different cultures and beliefs, the children explored how people celebrate special times in a variety of ways. They learnt that Diwali is a significant celebration for many, marked by light, colour, and joy.

Throughout the week, the children enjoyed listening to the story of Rama and Sita, gaining insight into the origins of the festival. They also got creative by making their own Diwa lamps using clay, which they are excited to take home once decorated. The celebrations continued with Diwali food tasting, where the children tried poppadoms, mango chutney, and onion bhajis — a delicious experience that was met with lots of smiles!

To bring the festivities to life, Reception took part in Diwali dancing and created beautiful rangoli patterns in the outdoor area, using vibrant colours and symmetrical designs. It was a wonderful week of learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation.

Well done, Honeybees — your enthusiasm and curiosity made this celebration truly special!
