This week, our Reception children in the Hive have been busy exploring the fascinating topic of seasons during their Understanding the World lesson. They learnt all about the four seasons—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter—discussing how the weather and environment change throughout the year. The children shared some brilliant facts, including how Winter might bring snow and the chance to build snowmen! Their enthusiasm and curiosity shone through as they talked about seasonal events and changes.

To bring their learning to life, the children went on a nature walk around the big playground, collecting Autumn treasures. They searched for sticks, berries, feathers, pinecones, and a variety of colourful leaves. Back in the classroom, they proudly shared their findings, noticing the beautiful colours—orange, red, brown, and even some green—as we transition from Summer to Autumn. The children demonstrated fantastic observational skills and enjoyed sorting their treasures into groups. It was a wonderful way to connect classroom learning with the natural world. Well done, Reception!
