The Hive children (Reception and Year 1) have been buzzing with activity this week as our children settle into the new school year. Our Year 1 pupils have shown fantastic focus and determination as they tackled their weekly challenges. In Phonics, they used magnetic letters to segment words and match them to pictures—an excellent way to build early reading skills through play. Outdoors, creativity flourished as the children crafted self-portraits using natural materials such as leaves, sticks, and berries. It was wonderful to see their personalities shine through in their artwork!

Meanwhile, our Reception children had a joyful introduction to music. Their first lesson was all about exploring sound using their bodies—clapping, stamping, and tapping with great enthusiasm. The smiles and laughter were infectious, and it was a lovely way to begin their musical journey.

We’re so proud of how well all the children are settling in and embracing their learning with such excitement and curiosity. Well done, Hive!
