This week in Science, Year 3 explored the important role that muscles play in helping our bodies move. The children investigated how muscles work alongside bones and tendons to create movement and learnt that muscles change shape by contracting and relaxing.

As part of their learning, the children designed and created model hands to demonstrate how tendons pull on bones to make fingers move. They enjoyed testing their models and observing how different parts of the body work together. This hands-on activity helped to bring their learning to life and develop a deeper understanding of how the human body moves.

Fun Science Fact: Muscles can only pull, not push! That's why muscles work in pairs. For example, when one muscle bends your arm, another muscle helps to straighten it again.
