Year 4 Step Back in Time at the Roman Experience Centre

Year 4 recently enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to the Roman Experience Centre in Chester. The visit brought their topic on the Romans vividly to life, giving pupils the chance to see, hear, and even smell what life might have been like in Roman Britain.
The children were incredibly well-behaved throughout the day and showed great enthusiasm and curiosity as they explored Roman artefacts, tried on replica armour, and walked through reconstructions of Roman streets. One of the highlights of the day was a special workshop with a Roman Legionary, who not only taught the children about Roman military tactics—but also gave them permission to launch a (very enthusiastic!) ambush on their teachers. Let’s just say a few staff members won’t be forgetting that in a hurry!
The experience sparked lots of conversation and questions, and we’re certain that what the children learned will inspire some brilliant topic work back in the classroom. A huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped make the day such a success, and of course, to Year 4 for being such wonderful ambassadors for our school.
We look forward to seeing all the fantastic Roman-inspired work they’ll be creating over the coming weeks!
